I had seen a mention of Gum Grove Park in Seal Beach on a dog friendly website and then stumbled on a video about it as well, and since then it’s been on the list of things to check out with the boys. Today, we finally made it out.
When we first arrived, I was kind of hesitant. From the parking lot, it looks a bit questionable, with not-so-pretty industrial looking views, so I wasn’t sure what to expect. As we exited the car, Tuggy asked where the park was, as he wasn’t convinced that he was going to have a good time here either. It ended up being a very relaxing and beautiful time out there.
Along one of the trails, there is a ton of wild flowers, bees, and butterflies. Most of the first trail was shaded, and we ran into a lot of dogs and their owners along the way. The way back, we took a different trail, which was mostly up hill and very shaded. It was nice because it was hot out, but the shade and the breeze made it very pleasant. Unlike a lot of our nature walks, we didn’t really run into any “wildlife” except for the bees and the butterflies, lol…. but we did get to hear a lot of “happy birds” as Tuggy likes to call them.
It was a great day to get out and enjoy the breeze, and the boys got to walk their sillies off.
