Especially when you have been up at night playing in “mommy’s treasure chest”.
It is unbelievable how time flies by. Today, with family and friends, we celebrated my little man’s 3rd birthday. Tuggy absolutely loves Dr. Seuss, and so do I, so I had fun putting together his party this year.
This year, a graphic designer friend of mine was kind enough to make my invitation for Tuggy’s party. I was really happy with the way they turned out.
We had the party at Willow Park in Anaheim. The weather was nice so grilled Tuggy’s favorite — cheeseburgers. Great for us, because its so simple. 🙂
The marble cake was a simple cat in the hat design, made by Laura, with oreo cookie and strawberry filling. It was amazing!
The cupcakes were also made by Laura. The cupcake toppers actually came from 3D book stickers that I found at Michael’s. Laura was able to laminate them and prop them up with toothpicks. They came out exactly as I envisioned… so perfect!
I had seen an idea to use a frame and other fun props on different blogs online, so… we decided to implement something like that this year. The pictures came out adorable.
To keep in line with the Dr. Seuss theme, I made these mustache pops using yellow candy melts. I was very happy with the way they came out.
For the goodie bags this year, I bought a pack of cat in the hat hats at CM School Supply in Fullerton and glued them on red gift bags. They were filled with pencils, erasers, bookmarks and other neat things from that store as well.
Lots of memories and growing up to celebrate, I couldn’t be prouder of my little man. Happy 3rd Birthday Pumpkin ….Love, Mommy!
I don’t have an awesome camera, I don’t know any techniques to take great pictures … but I am picky about the photos I take. When I originally took this shot, on March 1st… there were a lot of imperfections I saw in it. Looking back today, there’s a lot more beauty in this picture that I could have imagined that night.
I am kind of a geek when it comes to technology… I love gadgets and all that crap … but its times like these when I can *truly* appreciate technology and how blessed we are to have it.
It’s a gift.
I’m thankful that today, I, with a tiny little device that fits in my pocket, can take a picture, upload in on some thing we call the internet (automatically, even! In case I forget to back it up!). I can go home later, log on to my laptop, and document things on this blog for my boy to check out when he is old enough to appreciate it.
Without getting all mushy and sh*t, let me just say this…. there will be times when you wish you can go back to how things used to be but you just can’t because things have changed so much. This picture was taken a month and a half ago, but today, Tuggy can’t jump on the bed next to grandma and laugh with her, mess with the remote to her bed, or put a flower in her head. Sure, this picture is blurry, and gray, and Camila isn’t looking at the camera…. but the story it tells to my son when he looks at it years from now is much more important and, all of a sudden, the imperfections in the photo don’t matter anymore.
This morning Tuggy said he wanted to see ducks. Being that it was such a nice day out, I decided to make the trek out to Huntington Beach Central Park. Tuggy also said he felt like having cheeseburgers for lunch … so Five Guys Burgers it was! Letting Tuggy “plan” our day today turned out really great.
The breeze and the sunshine made taking a long walk around the lake and stopping to see the ducks an easy choice.
We saw horses from the neighboring equestrian center and spent some time tossing nuts to the squirrels. And of course, a trip to Central Park isn’t complete without checking out those feisty geese… definitely my favorite part of the day.
